So for example instead of a grade profile of AAB they may offer ABB with a grade B or above in the EPQ.
The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) can help to encourage independent learning and prepare students for higher education. We're pleased to offer a series of resources to support teachers and students with completing an EPQ. The EPQ is a Level 3 course usually undertaken in year 12 or 13.
They keep a reflective log throughout the learning process and present the finished project at school. Students can complete an EPQ on just about anything that interests them. Real-life examples include building a guitar, investigating the regeneration of organs from embryonic stem cells, and creating a make-up tutorial video.
The EPQ consists of three elements: An essay of 5000 words on a subject of your choice. It can be linked to the area you would like to study at university, or can be something completely different that you personally have a passion to study in greater depth. Some examples are listed later on.

OxfordAQA’s International IPQ is based on the most popular EPQ which is offered by AQA and taken by over 33,000 students annually. It is the first to be designed specifically for international students and the only A-level standard international project-based qualification.
